The WILD method is easy to understand but it can be a bit difficult for you to implement. Below are three ways to consciously go into a dream without doing a reality check.

Lucid Dreaming Affirmations

To do this method, you lie down on the bed to sleep. Then you have to take and leave deep breaths five to eight times. Deep breathing increases the flow of oxygen in our body due to which our mind becomes more alert.


Now you have to repeat in your mind a very important affirmation like "I am dreaming now".


You have to keep repeating this affirmation again and again in your mind. Keep repeating this until you fall asleep.


When we repeat something over and over again, a streak is formed in our minds toward that thing. When you go to sleep repeating the above affirmation, then you will get a glimpse of this affirmation in the dream and you will become aware in the dream.


Numbers Counting Technique

This method is also a bit similar to the previous method, but in this method, instead of repeating the affirmation, you have to count the numbers in your mind.


This method also has to be done while lying on the bed. First of all, take deep breaths five to eight times and calm and steady your mind. Due to the running of the day, our mind becomes very restless and lethargic. That's why by taking long and deep breaths, the mind starts to calm down and awareness starts increasing due to more oxygen going to the brain.


After you have taken deep breaths at least 8 times, then you have to close your eyes and start counting the numbers. Keep in mind that the numbers are not to be counted directly. You have to count the number like this,


  • 1, I'm dreaming
  • 2, I'm dreaming
  • 3, I'm dreaming
  • 4, I'm dreaming, and so on


In this way, you have to go on counting the number and at the same time repeat 'I am dreaming'. Count till you fall asleep.


Many times it will happen that while counting the numbers, your mind will wander away from the number and start thinking about something else. Or it will also happen that you will forget the count in the middle because you will lose your consciousness.


But don't let this happen. You have to do this experiment for at least 10 to 15 minutes. By doing this exercise, your body will gradually start falling asleep but your mind will remain alert as you keep counting the numbers.


When the body goes completely into sleep and dreams begin to form, then you will be able to see the dream being formed. If you are able to see the dream as it is being created, you will be able to be aware of it easily. Then it will be a very big thing in itself, such a big thing that it will change your whole life.

This method is a bit tricky and will require more effort. This method was discovered thousands of years ago by Buddhist and Tibetan monks. I am saying from my own experience that this method is very effective than all other methods. This method is not only for lucid dreaming but it is also of great importance for meditation practice.


Breathing meditation is also called Vipassana meditation. This meditation has to be done twice a day, first in the morning and second at night before sleeping.


The more you practice it, the more you will become proficient in it.


Practice in the morning

After getting up from sleep in the morning, first, you get fresh. Then sit on a soft seat in a quiet place. Now focus your attention on your coming and going breath. When you take the breath in, know that you have taken the breath in and when you exhale your breath, know that the breath has gone out.


Do this meditation for at least 20 minutes or if you want, you can prolong it for 1 hour.


Practice at Bedtime

You have to do this meditation even while sleeping so that you can go into the dream consciously. It is not necessary that Lucidity will trigger on the first night itself. Do this exercise continuously for at least 1 week then you will start seeing the results.


It is very difficult to do this meditation while sleeping because very soon your attention will be diverted from your breath and you will start to faint. That's why in the beginning you will have to forcefully keep your awareness on the breath, then gradually you will become good at it.
