I can tell you from my personal experience that it is possible to lucid dream even during the day. When I try to lucid dream during the day, I can easily enter lucid dreaming by using some methods of meditation while lying in bed.

But let me tell you that it is a bit difficult to see such dreams during the day. If a person is still new in this field then it will be very difficult for him to see lucid dreams during the day. 

Our brain is more active during the day and it becomes difficult to fall asleep. If you know a little bit about lucid dreams, then you would know that deep sleep is necessary for this type of dream and deep sleep can come to us only during the night.

But still, if someone wants, he can induce such dreams even during the day. He just needs to know how to calm and relax his mind.

Lucid dreaming is easier at night than during the day because the body produces more melatonin at night. This melatonin is the same hormone that helps us sleep deeply. Because our brain is more active during the day, this hormone is very less.

Reality Checking: Whether you want to lucid dream during the day or at night, practicing reality check is very important. During the waking state, repeatedly ask yourself the question "Am I dreaming right now?"

Practicing Mindfulness: Focus more on increasing your awareness. Try to stay in the present state for the maximum time, and don't get entangled in the past and future. Keep unnecessary thoughts away from your mind and do every work consciously. By doing this, your level of awareness will increase. And this is essential for lucid dreaming.

Yoga Nidra: When you go to sleep during the day, you have to practice Yoga Nidra while lying on the bed. Let me tell you that Yoga Nidra is a process in which the body goes to sleep but the mind remains alert. It has its own science and its own use, but we can use this method for lucid dreaming.

To do this method, you have to focus on your coming and going breaths for 5 minutes while lying on the bed. By doing this, your mind will start becoming calm and relaxed. Now in the further process, you have to take your attention to different parts of the body. You can start with the toe of the lowest part of your body. Focus your attention on the leg thumb and see if there is any pain or tension in the thumb.

Then come slightly up on your knees and focus your attention there. Relax the knees, let them be relaxed and tension free. 

In the same way, you have to move your attention to different parts of your body, stay there for some time and then move to another part.

By doing this, your mind will become very calm and you will slowly start going into the depths of sleep. Sleeping while doing Yoga Nidra will keep your level of awareness high.

When sleep happens and dreaming starts, then because of this awareness, you can very easily know that your reality has false, that is, it is a dream.

You will get melatonin supplements very easily in the market, but the thing to keep in mind here is that it can also have some side effects like lethargy, dizziness, weakness, etc.

There are also some foods that naturally increase the level of melatonin in our body by eating them. If you want to avoid the side effects of supplements, you can increase your levels of this hormone by eating some natural foods such as bananas, walnuts, tart cherries, eggs, turkey, and dairy products.

How does the sleep cycle affect lucid dreaming during the day?

There is a special stage of our sleep that we call the REM stage. This stage greatly affects the likelihood and intensity of lucid dreaming during the day. We have the most vivid and memorable dreams during the REM stage, and our brain is most active in terms of dreaming during this stage.

Lucid dreaming usually occurs during the REM stage of sleep because in this stage the person is slightly more aware and able to control the dream. But in some cases, lucid dreams can also occur in a non-REM stage.

During the day the body is not in its natural sleep cycle which makes it difficult for a person to enter the REM stage. But the REM phase can also be induced during the day using a melatonin supplement.

In conclusion, I would say that it is possible to lucid dream during the day also but you have to use some techniques like reality checks, awareness, and practice of yoga nidra.

With the right techniques and mindset, anyone can become fully aware during a dream. It does not matter whether you are dreaming during the day or at night. If you have a good level of awareness and are able to keep yourself completely in the present state, then you will certainly be conscious even during the dream.
