Best Story by Osho | Story of Ringing Temple Bells

I heard a beautiful story of ringing temple bells. About thousands of years ago, a city of divine temples was submerged in the ocean. The bells of the temple dipped in that ocean are still ringing today.

Perhaps the shock of the water might have blown it or fish swimming around might have hit it. Be that as it may, the bells are still ringing today. Even today one can listen to that melodious music by going to the beach of the ocean.

I too wanted to listen to that melodious music. So I went to search that ocean. I searched for it for many years and I finally reached that ocean, but what was it, there was the roar of the ocean.

The slaps of the waves on the rocks echoed endlessly in that solitude. I didn't find any music and no bells were ringing in any temples or Mandirs.

I heard the shore, but there was nothing but the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

Again I ceased and looked. In fact, I had completely forgotten the way back home. Now that unknown deserted seashore became my tomb.

Again, I had forgotten about listening to the sound of the temple bells gradually drowning in the ocean. I was dipped in the shore of that ocean.

Again one night unexpectedly I discovered that the bells of the sunken temples were ringing. And its melodious music is stirring my spirit.

I woke up to that melody and couldn't go back to sleep. Now someone is continuously awake inside. Ignorance is gone permanently. And life is full of glow. Because where there is no ignorance, there are no nights.

And I am in joy. No, I have become joy himself, for where there is music in the church of God, there is no grief.

Do you also like to go to the beach of that ocean? Do you also desire to hear the melodious music of the sunken temple of God?

So walk. Enter the self and the heart of the self is that ocean.

And, in its depth is the city of sunken temples of God.

But only he will be able to listen to the melodious music of that temple, who is calm and null in every way.

Where there is the crowd of thinkings and lusts, how can its melodious music listen? Even the desire to get it is not enough to get it.

Meaning of This Osho's Story:

Thoughts are like clouds covering the sky. When there are clouds in the sky, the sky is not visible at all. Similarly, when there are thoughts in the mind, our soul is not visible at all.

Our mind remains always full of unwanted thoughts, desires, lusts, imaginations, fantasies, and many other things like hatered, pain, sorrow, etc. These all are great hurdles in the spiritual path.

If you want to know your true self then you have to empty your mind of these unwanted things. Only a clear and clean mirror reflects the true reflection. If there is dust in the mirror, then the reflection would be blurred.

The thinking process is called the mind. When you become absent from the inside, then there exists only the mind, not you. You are lost in the flow of thoughts, desires,s, and fantasies.

Your mind takes control over you. Since you are not aware, you can do nothing about this. The main point is to become aware, become fully conscious in every moment.
