Do you know why we lose consciousness when we sleep? Have you ever questioned where our awareness goes during our sleep? Why in a dream we don't know that we are dreaming? 


I know many of you generally do not research these things. But keep knowing that both sleep and dream are as much important as our daytime. The dream has its own existence, it has its own authority. It is not like darkness.

The typical sleeping process takes place as awareness leaves the senses. The mind drifts off into thoughts and diversion until it vanishes into darkness.

Unconsciousness continues until dreams start to occur. When they do, the feeling of self is revived through a dualistic interaction with the dream imagery until the transition into the next stage of unconsciousness takes place.


A typical night's sleep consists of interspersed periods of wakefulness and sleep. As we lose consciousness while we sleep, it is dark for us. We identify with the gross mind, which shuts down during sleep, so it feels inexperiential.



What we refer to as "falling asleep" is the moment when our sense of self dissolves.



Because the moving mind is active and generates a dream ego that we identify with, we are awake in the dream. But the subjective self doesn't appear during sleep.


Although our definition of sleep includes being unconscious, the core of sleep does not include being in the dark or feeling empty. There is no sleep for the pure consciousness that serves as our foundation.


When the moving mind is not troubled by obscurations, dreams, or thoughts, it resolves into the nature of the mind; clarity, calm, and bliss appear in place of the sleep of ignorance.


We experience the dream as glowing, once we learn to maintain that consciousness. Its brightness is pure light. It's who we really are. As was said in the chapters before, karmic imprints are the source of dreams.


In order to create films where karmic imprints are the images, consciousness is the light illuminating them, and dreams are projected onto the base, I adopted the analogy of light projected through the film (kunzhi).



Why we lose Consciousness when we sleep


Using dream imagery, Lucid Dream cultivates clarity. Yet, there is no movie or projection in Lucid Dream. Traumyoga has no images. Directly recognizing consciousness through consciousness is the technique. a lamp shining its own light. That is brightness without any pictures.


Later, when the practitioner has achieved steadiness in clear light, even dream visions won't divert them, and the dreaming phase of sleep will likewise take place in this environment.


Then, as they are different from lucid dreams, these dreams are known as lucid dreams. Clear light is unobscured in clear-light dreams.


As soon as we attempt to visualize clear light, we lose its genuine meaning. There is neither a subject nor an object in the clean light. There is no admission into clear light if there is any identification with a subject.


Final observations


In truth, nothing actually "enters" the clear light because it serves as the foundation for understanding itself. Neither "you" nor "it" exist. A paradox results if dualistic terminology is used to describe the non-dual. Knowing the clear light directly is the only method to do so.
